A rewarding moment in the life of a software developer

Most folks know I'm a software developer at RIM within networking development. One of the projects I've been involved in is making software that automates our most common tasks. The API of the main tool that I write software against contained an easter egg, whereby if you sent the command "show monkey", an image of a monkey appeared in ASCII art. I thought it was cute, so I incorporated it into my  software when the user completes a change on our production network successfully using my software. It quickly turned into a competition in the 24x7 operations department that uses my software to see how many monkeys each person could rack up. I found the following on the wall of one of their cubes. It's an excellent lesson in adoption.  The simple act of a displaying a dancing monkey when my app exists successfully has done a phenomenal job of getting my users ensure they pay attention to the software they're using and providing accurate user input.
